Volunteer Opportunities
Missoula AIDS Council is a nonprofit community-based organization working for the prevention of HIV transmission while advocating for and supporting individuals currently living with HIV/AIDS in Montana. We cannot achieve our goals without the hard work and dedication of many volunteers. If you are interested in making a difference in our community, please take a look at the variety of volunteer opportunities available.  You can download a volunteer application and return it to our office and one of our staff will help find a volunteer position that is right for you!

HIV Testing and Counseling: After completing a three day, free training to become a certified Tester and Counselor, volunteers conduct anonymous and confidential HIV tests, offer educational discussions of personal risk behaviors through individual assessments, and provide results and resources to those being tested.

General Office Assistance: Volunteers assist staff with an assortment of general office duties, such as answering phones, scheduling tests, welcoming visitors, and organizing educational materials.

Educational Presentations: In partnership with other volunteers or staff, educational presentation volunteers deliver programs such as “HIV 101” and “Just So You Know” in schools, community based-organizations, and other local institutions.

Community Outreach: As social events take place in Missoula, community outreach volunteers distribute condoms and lubricants, provide educational information on HIV and the work of Missoula AIDS Council, and encourage community members to get tested for HIV.

Buddy Program: Volunteers provide one-on-one support for a person living with HIV/AIDS in our community.  Activities may include a friendly game of basketball, rides to the store, or conversations over coffee.
